It has been painful to watch our beloved Mom and Grandma hurt both physically and emotionally when all we could do was love her and hold her hand through it. What has been such a comfort has been the care that was given to her and to our family by the staff at Riverview. The staff cared for her with such true compassion and kindness, a care that went beyond doing their job to the best of their ability. It was a comfort when we had to be away from her to know that she was cared for so completely. Our father, Charles Linamen, was a River View resident from October 4- November 8, 2012. Family members and friends visited Papa 2-3 times daily and had the opportunity to interact with staff members and observe facility operations.

I went to River View on the Appomattox for rehab after a knee replacement. I hesitated to stay as I thought being in a “nursing home” I would not get the rehab I needed in order to go home. I was wrong; the rehab team lead by “The Boss” Jessica was wonderful and I was home in 2 weeks. I will return to River View when I have surgery on the other knee!

My mother is currently residing at River View on the Appomattox Nursing Center. At the time of admission, the admissions and billing personnel, and other administrators were exceptionally cordial and helpful in explaining the admissions and financial process. Most importantly, the facility is clean and the staff appear to genuinely care about the well-being and safety of their residents.

My father in law, James E. Schaeffer, stayed at Riverview on the Appomattox for approximately two months. “Pop” was past eighty years old at the time. He had been suffering from dementia, had become dehydrated and was not eating. “Pop” came to Riverview from a local hospital with a feeding tube after having lost so much strength that he was not physically strong enough to function.
“Pop” received wonderful care while at Riverview on the Appomattox. He gradually gained weight and strength, regained the ability and desire to eat, became physically active again, and after the two month stay was able to come home and live with our family for another year and a half. This progress was due to the quality care he received from nurses, assistants and therapists at Riverview on the Appomattox. The staff was always pleasant, caring, and professional.
My wife Robyn and I were very grateful for all that the Riverview on the Appomattox staff did for “Pop”.
